2016 theme: BIRD FEST!
For students entering grades 4 – 5 | July 18 – 22, 2016
Join us for an exciting, week-long adventure in learning about Oregon’s birds…

Note: Plan to arrive at the Straub Environmental Center 7:15am each day. The van will depart promptly at 7:30am. Campers will return to SEC for pick-up by 4:00pm.

  • Monday:  Awesome Ospreys: We’ll start the week by learning about our Osprey neighbors along the Willamette River. We’ll go for a hike at Minto-Brown Island Park …
  • Tuesday:  American Dippers: McDowell Creek Falls will be today’s destination.  We’ll investigate this cool mountain stream and learn how American dippers get their food here.
  • Wednesday:  Jays and Robins: Today’s adventure will take us to Willamette Mission State Park. We’ll learn some surprising things about two of our most common birds, the western scrub jay and the American robin.
  • Thursday:  Portland Audubon Sanctuary: The Portland Audubon Society’s sanctuary in northwest Portland is a place all bird lovers like to visit. We’ll visit their wildlife care center, see the education birds, visit the interpretive center and hike the sanctuary trails.
  • Friday:  Reach for the Summit! Our sights are high on this last day. We’re capping off our week with a hike to Cascade Head at the Oregon Coast.  The views will be amazing and we may see bald eagles and northern harriers!
