Hawk Mountain Huckleberry Hike

John Savage of the Willamette Valley Chapter of the Oregon Native Plant Society and SEC will lead an all-day hike to munch on ripe huckleberries and view the late summer flowers of Hawk Mountain, near Detroit. The 4-mile walk (with 800 feet of elevation gain) also features old growth Mountain Hemlock, stunning views of Mt. Jefferson, and one of the last standing fire lookout cabins in Oregon.  Bring sack lunch and water.  $10 for Native Plant Society Members; $35 for non-members (includes one-year membership to Native Plant Society of Oregon), and $45 for families (includes one-year membership to Native Plant Society of Oregon).   Transportation will be provided to and from the trailhead.  Space is limited to 10 registrants.  Registration is required.  Register before Friday, August 25 at 5:00 p.m.  For more information and to register, call 503-779-5414 or email john@ straubenvironmentalcenter.org.
